CCM to respect Katiba views==>>Tanzania

CCM will accept and respect views of the
majority after the constitution review
process, the party's Ideology and Publicity
Secretary, Mr Nape Nnauye , said in Dar es
Salaam.
Mr Nnauye also appealed for tolerance
among Tanzanians with different views in the
ongoing process, saying the party
secretariat, Central Committee ( CC) and
National Executive Committee (NEC ) will
meet from August 20 to 25, this year and
assess their members' views. He , however ,
did not reveal the venue of the meeting.
" Our members and the associations under
CCM are through with collection of views at
ward and regional levels . Views collected in
wards and regions will be deliberated on at
national level and come out with a compact
document to be given to the Constitutional
Review Commission (CRC) ," he said.
He said CCM members should freely air
their views, people were supposed to come
up with different ideas , views and opinions .
He said CCM would not force the CRC to go
for the party's recommendations.
Mr Nnauye said it would not be possible to
have a constitution draft that will be agreed
by everyone at once since people have
different opinions but strive to have in place
a basic law that caters for interests of the
majority .
He said his party does not have grudges
with the CRC despite having different views
on the constitution draft , especially on the
Union structure . " We go for two Union
governments against the CRC proposed
three- government system , but that does not
mean that we do not trust the commission , "
he stressed .
Mr Nnauye also underscored the need to
observe patience and tolerance in the views
collection process , saying logical argument
should prevail instead of attacking
personalities.
This is the first time that Tanzanians have
been fully involved in the writing of their
constitution . In the past the government
used to come out with a White Paper or
Green Party.
