The 'Nothin' on Ya' hitmaker denies hitting a
soldier with a bottle outside a club back in
March.
Gucci Mane pleaded
not guilty to aggravated
assault. The rapper
showed up at Fulton
County Superior Court
on Monday, May 14 to
enter his not guilty plea
connected to an alleged
assault where he hit a
soldier's head with a
bottle outside a
nightclub in Atlanta
back in March 26.
Prosecutors alleged
that Gucci struck a
soldier named James
Lettley in the head with a champagne bottle at
an Atlanta nightclub when the Lettley asked if
he could get a photo with the rapper. The
attack caused deep cuts on Lettley's head and
he claimed he needed several stitches. Mane's
lawyer, Drew Findling, argued that no evidence
exists against his client other than the alleged
victim's report.
Mane was indicted on April 9 and was released
from custody on April 12 after posting
$75,000 bail. He could only enjoy his freedom
for less than 24 hours since he was sent
behind bars again on April 13 for allegedly
violating probation which had nothing to do
with the assault case. Mane was freed on May
2.
Mane has been jailed for several other run-ins
with law, including alleged murder, drug
offenses, battery, reckless driving, and
disorderly conduct for pushing a woman out
of a moving car.
