into the Clark County Detention Center on
charges of domestic battery and coercion.
Pia Zadora,
a
Broadway
and
cabaret
singer, was
taken into
police
custody
Saturday,
June 1 at
her home
in a suburb
of
Summerlin
in Las
Vegas, Nevada. The 59-year-old star was
charged with domestic battery and coercion.
Details of the ill-fated incident that led to the
arrest, including the name of Zadora's victim,
is not available for the moment. The actress
has been released from the Clark County
Detention Center after posting $4,000 bail.
Zadora started her career on Broadway,
starring in such productions as "Little Mary
Sunshine" and "Funny Girl". On the big screen,
she landed roles in 1988's "Hairspray" and
critically-acclaimed "Butterfly" which won her
a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year in
1981.
She's been married to Las Vegas police
detective Michael Jeffries since 2005. It was
her third marriage. She met Jeffries after
contacting police to report a stalking incident.
