Tuesday, 14 May 2013 16:00 Nokia officially announces the new Lumia 925

4.5-inch screen and aluminum frame body
During its event in London today, Nokia
officially announced the new Lumia 925,
previously known and leaked under the
Catwalk project name. Built around a 4.5-inch
AMOLED 1280x768 touchscreen, Nokia Lumia
925 is actually the first member of the Lumia
family that will feature an aluminum frame,
rather than polycarbonate panels.
The new Nokia Lumia 925 is a direct successor
of the Lumia 920 and is pretty much a mix
between the Verizon Lumia 928 and the Lumia
920. Same as the Lumia 928, the new Lumia
925 also feature an 8.7-megapixel sensor
behind it rear camera with Optical Image
Stabilization, f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and
PureView branding.
The precise dimensions of the Lumia 925 are
set at 129x70.6x8.5mm and it weighs 135g,
which makes it 50g lighter than Lumia 920.
Although it uses an aluminum frame the
backplate is still made out of the same
polycarbonate seen on other Lumia
smartphones but in much more subtle black,
white and grey color choices.
Spec wise, the Lumia 925 features a 4.5-inch
AMOLED 1280x768 touchscreen with
ClearBlack and Gorilla Glass 2. The heart of it
is Qualcomm's Snapdragon MSM8950 chipset
with dual-core Krait CPU part clocked at
1.5GHz and Adreno 225 graphics, paired up
with 1GB of RAM. It comes wtih 16GB of
internal storage, has no microSD card slot and
also features 1.2-megapixel wide angle front
camera. The 2000mAh battery is unfortunately
non-removable but features wireless charging
via thin charging cover. As all Lumia
smartphones, the new Lumia 925 also runs on
Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS.
In order to make it special, Nokia also pre-
loaded the Lumia 925 with the new Smart
Camera app athat offers burst mode, best shot,
action shot and motion focus modes as well as
some other neat features.
According to info, the new Nokia Lumia 925
should be available in Europe as of June for
€470, while T-Mobile US should get it at a
later date.
