Ngele fired up for SuperSport clash

Platinum Stars midfielder Mogakolodi
Ngele says the desire to win some
silverware this season will be the driving
force of the Rustenburg-based team
tonight when they meet SuperSport United
in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
The livewire midfielder – who has been among
the outstanding players for Platinum Stars this
season – points out that Dikwena will be
buoyed by the fact that they will be playing in
front of their home ground.
"It has been a fantastic season for us but we
are just taking it one game at a time. This is a
very important match for us," the young
Botswana international tells KickOff.com .
Ngele – who did not play a part in the team's
2-0 win over Maritzburg United – is likely to
be thrust in the middle of the park tonight as
coach Cavin Johnson looks to use his pace to
open up the SuperSport United defence.
"We are used to the pressure that is
associated with these high-profile matches,"
Ngele explains, with an air of confidence.
"In football there is always pressure to
perform. But we are playing in front of our
home crowd and it will be SuperSport who
will be under tremendous pressure to win.
"We have been doing well at our home
matches and this is why we are confident of
another good show."
The first ever meeting between Dikwena and
SuperSport – a League clash in the 2003/04
season – saw Matsatsansa recording a 1-0
victory, thanks to a goal by Peter Khoabane.
Platinum Stars' first victory over SuperSport
came later that season when they triumphed
2-0 in the first round of the Coca-Cola Cup.
The only other cup meeting between the two
sides came in the 2006/07 season when
Dikwena won a penalty shoot out 7-6 after
the teams played to a 0-0 draw in the Absa
Cup quarter-final.
All in all, the teams have met on 21 previous
occasions, with SuperSport winning 10
matches and Dikwena triumphing in five
games. Six of these encounters have been
drawn.
