Drake Leads 2013 BET Awards Nominees, Chris Brown and R. Kelly to Perform

The Toronto rapper earns the most nods with
12 going into the awards ceremony to be
hosted by Chris Tucker.
Canadian rapper
Drake leads all
nominees in this
year's BET
Awards, bagging
a total of 12
nominations
going into the
June 30
awarding
ceremony. To be
hosted by
comedian Chris
Tucker , the
show will feature
performances
from hip-hop's finest, from young current
superstar Chris Brown to veteran favorite R.
Kelly .
The nominations, unveiled Tuesday, May 14 by
BET in a Los Angeles press conference,
revealed that the 26-year-old Drake got an
even dozen nods which included the Best Male
Hip-hop Artist award and the Coca-Cola
Viewers' Choice Award for "Started from the
Bottom". For the Video of the Year category
alone, the "5AM in Toronto" hitmaker got
himself nominated a remarkable five times.
With one of the five being his "Started from
the Bottom" solo project, the rest of the nods
were for Drake's collaborations with other
artists like 2 Chainz on "No Lie", Kendrick
Lamar on "Poetic Justice" and A$AP Rocky on
"F*ckin' Problems", which incidentally, also
featured 2 Chainz and Lamar. The fourth
collaboration to be nominated was Drake's own
"HYFR" team-up with Cash Money Records
boss Lil Wayne , the only one not included in
his Best Collaboration nods that he got,
although it was easily filled up by his work on
"Pop That" with French Montana, Rick Ross
and Weezy.
Trailing Drake in the BET Awards nominations
list are incidentally again, his collaborators 2
Chainz and Lamar with eight nods each,
followed by A$AP Rocky and Roc Nation mogul
Jay-Z with five, and closely behind with four
apiece are Billboard chart-topper Justin
Timberlake and "Adorn" singer Miguel .
