14 nabbed over drugs , illicit liquor

POLICE in Dar es Salaam have
arrested 14 suspects in possession of
60 pellets of suspected narcotic drugs
and 10 litres of prohibited locally
brewed liquor commonly known as
"gongo," following a crackdown
conducted on Sunday at various areas
in Ilala and Kinondoni municipalities.
Ilala Regional Police Commander
(RPC) , Ms Marietha Minangi
mentioned the suspects who were
nabbed in connection with the drugs
as Mohamed Said and Said Bakari , who
were arrested at Kariakoo area at
about 1 :30 pm on Sunday .
A police report issued by RPC Minangi
in Dar es Salaam yesterday said the
suspects were allegedly found in
possession of 60 pellets of narcotics.
The street value of the drugs is yet to
be established.
In another development , 12 people
were arrested by cops in Kinondoni
Police Zone in connection with illegal
possession of marijuana and the illegal
liquor , according to Kinondoni RPC
Charles Kenyela.
"The suspects were arrested on
Sunday morning at Kijitonyama Kwa
Ally Maua area with eight pellets as
well as 44 rolls of bhang and 10 litres
of gongo," the Kinondoni top cop said.
He mentioned the suspects as Faraji
Furugu (22 ), Lucas Elias ( 26) , Aisha
Musa ( 27) and nine more others. The
suspects will be arraigned once the
police have completed investigations.
