Pervez Musharraf’s villa on the edge of
Islamabad, April 19.
The swimming pool and rolling green lawns
attached to Pervez Musharraf’s villa on the
edge of Islamabad, have been out of bounds
for the former military ruler since he was put
under house arrest in April, according to his
lawyers and aides.
They say Mr. Musharraf is confined to one
bedroom and a window-less living room of his
home on Park Road in the upscale Chak
Shahzad neighborhood.
“He [Mr. Musharraf] has been deprived of all
the facilities one usually enjoys,” said Salman
Safdar, a lawyer representing Mr. Musharraf.
Sehba Musharraf, his wife, continues to live in
the rest of the house, but she is only allowed
to see her husband during prescribed visiting
hours, according to Mr. Safdar.
But others close to the former Pakistani
president paint a less bleak picture of his
detention.
