All genres of music were very well represented in the 2013 Grammy Awards list of nominees. Artists The Black Keys, Jay-Z, and Fun. were among those with multiple nominations at the prestigious awards show. Other musicians who got multiple nominations include Mumford & Sons, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean. The list of nominees was announced on Wednesday, December 5 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys was nominated for non-classical producer of the year, which became the sixth nod for the rock duo. The other five include Album of the Year and Best Rock Album for "El Camino", and Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for their single "Loney Boy". The nominations indeed prove the band's very strong musical career this year.
Rock music seemed to pose a comeback as another great group Fun. nabbed top nominations for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. The indie band, who were also one of the featured performers that night, would also fight for the Best New Artist trophy next year while their anthemic song "We Are Young" would try to get the Song of the Year award. The band got two other nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z tied with another great rapper Kanye West with their six nominations. Jay-Z and Kanye are no strangers at the Grammys and their dominance on Wednesday's concert was mostly due to their "Watch the Throne" collaboration and their individual works.
Mumford & Sons nominations were spread in different categories including Album of the Year for "Babel". R'n'B singer Frank Ocean, meanwhile, got some major nominations including Best New Artist and Album of the Year for "Channel Orange".
